The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand.

In 2021, KAICIID and ASEAN-IPR, the leading regional intergovernmental organization in South East Asia, launched a training programme to help ASEAN professionals use interreligious and intercultural dialogue in peacebuilding, conflict management and resolution. The programme highlights the promotion of tolerance, respect for religions, and the resolution of differences and dispute through peaceful means. KAICIID was invited to participate in the ASEAN Youth Interfaith Camp in October 2021 organized under the theme "Championing Youth as Agents of Interfaith Harmony."
