Arigatou International
Established in 1990 and headquartered in Japan, Arigatou International is a non-profit corporation which works with people from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds to promote children’s rights and well-being at all levels — from the grassroots to the global.
Since 2016, Arigatou and KAICIID have been part of the International Partnership on Religion and Sustainable Development (PaRD) Steering Group, as well as the Sustaining Peace (UN Sustainable Development Goal 16) workstream.
The Centre has also supported Arigatou with mobilizing faith-based initiatives for children. In 2018, Arigatou invited KAICIID to support a study titled, “Faith and Children’s Rights: A Multi-religious Study on the Convention on the Rights of the Child,” launched on the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Following the completion of the study, KAICIID signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Arigatou on 18 November 2019.
In 2020 and 2021, KAICIID and Arigatou partnered on a series of virtual events including the Interfaith Prayer with Children and the Faith in Action for Children Campaign.
In 2021, KAICIID also joined an Arigatou-led, multi-partner education symposium and collaborated on a webinar series and booklet, along with PaRD and World Vision, on faith-sensitive mental health support for children on the move.
