Muhammad Jan is PhD scholar in Islamic Law and Jurisprudence. He is also a graduate of Dars-e-Nizami (Equivalent to Master in Islamic Studies and Arabic Language & Literature), the traditional Islamic curriculum prevailing in South Asia. Currently he is working as lecturer of Islamic Law at the Government Post Graduate College in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtoonkh, Pakistan. His experience includes research, policy and social engagement. His research interests are jihad, minorities rights, Muslim and non-Muslim relations, peace and tolerance in the light of Islamic Law and Jurisprudence. As a member of prestigious policy-level governmental organization for two years, he has played significant role in penning down several policies on countering violent extremism and counter terrorism. Being consultant to several NGOs, he has developed training manuals, modules, booklets for engaging inter- and intra-faith leaders. He has also trained a large number of religious community leaders on peace and conflict resolution, human rights, civic education, democracy and democratic values across inter- and intra-faith lines. Besides that, he is a veteran translator from English and Arabic to Urdu on the above-mentioned themes. He is published translator of nine books so far.
