The International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) in cooperation with the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers and Finn Church Aid launched the “Reinforcing Peace and Cooperation in the Heart of the Muslim Community” project on 8 August in Bangui, beginning the next phase of KAICIID’s work in the Central African Republic.

The project will train more than 30 Imams on the values ​​of peace, dialogue and tolerance as well as to organize trainings and coaching sessions on dialogue and conflict facilitation in four regions. Through training religious and community leaders, the project will strengthen peace and cooperation within the Central African Muslim community and promote social cohesion by giving religious leaders skills in mediating and facilitating dialogue. 

The third and final phase or the project will focus on bringing together representatives of Muslim and Christian communities to strengthen collaboration to promote mutual respect and social cohesion. 

The launch was presided over by the mayor of Bangui, Mr. Emile Gros-Raymond Nakombo, as well as leaders within the Muslim community.
